Autobahn Raser 2 - Frankfurt Race

Hello everyone!

Instead of putting videos of my unfinished ROSE gameserver I decided to upload some video of a game I really liked when I was a little child.
"Autobahn Raser 2" was my favourite game, I still have part 1 & 2 in my bookshelf :)

Alright, this video shows some gameplay, first race of the "Class A".
In "Class A" the slowest cars can be found. When you have finished Class A, and yea I got it already, you are able to play "Class B", with way faster cars.
There are about 10 maps which play on 3 "classes" (A, B, C).

You decide between two types of races: Motorway/Highway ("Autobahn" in German) or Town.
The Motorway race is a simple ride from point A to B, while many obstacles (traffic and police) try to avoid you from doing that :)
When your car has 100% damage, it is unable to drive and you go back to menu where you might restart the race, "Totalschaden".

Whatever, the game DOES run on Windows XP (this vid is recorded on it), but needs a "tweak". You must replace/update the 'spel.dat' file with a new one from "London Racer".
But when you do so your startpositioning is... messed up in motorway races, sometimes in Town ones.
As the forum hosting the file went down, I will no longer support receiving the file.

You are able to play the game with no problems on Win2000 (I guess).

Somewhere in this thread a patch is located, and the admin said he would work on a patch for the spawn of your car (he stopped working on it I guess :P).

EDIT2: 2 star rating? I dont know why I put so much effort into this then :/ Actually I dont care about rating, just that it "negates" my vid heavily, which is meant to present gameplay.

MY GAME CRASHES WHEN LOADING

Did you replace the file "spel.dat" in your game directory? The patch you need to download at the site contains the file.

I didnt experience any crash using the file on WinXP.

Btw, just in case you get stuck in a racemap:

Disable the object collision detection in the "game.ini" file, by setting "collisionoff" to "1".

But don't abuse that ;)

Do you have a save file? It should be in your game folder. It is called "SaveXXXX.rcr" (x being numbers). I cant complete the game due to it being fixed. Its because the spel.dat is from the english equivalent and so places the car left (as you might know)

hat dir schon mal jemand gesagt, wie unglaublich schlecht du spielst?

selbst heute könnte ich dir alle rennen fehlerfrei und ohne jeglichen schaden und ohne "turbo" einzusetzen fahren aber was du da machst..... schlecht!

@TheMaggot81 ehmmm... das ist ken fehler ... habe es damals auf 95 und 98 gezockt und es lief einwandfrei ... da ist ein fehler wegen XP und Vista

This used to be my favourite game too. It's not working on vista, but that doesn't matter. These days I'm more into FPS, but if I somehow do want to race, I usually play Need for Speed.

I'm glad you uploaded this video though, it brought back some nice memories. I can even remember the track. x]
