of all the remakes of different songs over the years,id have to say this song especially as a duet with the original artist is definitely THE BEST!!! EVER!!! I loved this song when it came out,and even more so now that carrie underwood has remade it with randy travis!!! Both are and always will be awesome artists!!!!!

this goes right to the heart what a great song

this is a good song no matter which way anyone wants to listen to it...

I say more Randy Travis would be good, purely because they harmonize perfectly and it's amazing O.o

@dabst505 this song was crap before Carrie released it lol

my dad made something for randy travis' ranch in Texas :)

Carrie did AMAZING!

This version the listener can't identify with either part because what parts get sung by whom is almost random. While their voices blend together well, I don't think this was the song to sing as a two part harmony duet, but a back and forth duet, with a dabble of blend at the very end.
With the back and forth duet, the "couple" can have a conversation that each party can identify with each side of the failed relationship...
I am actually going to try this in a recording this weekend.

Carrie nails part of this and misses completely on other parts of it. To me a song has it's own heart and soul, and that lies within the original, and it is hard to recapture it.
What I think would have worked MUCH better, would have been to have the remake be a conversation between the two artists, with Randy singing the verses as close to the original as possible and Carrie singing the chorus in her very powerful tones.
I do realize we are entitled to our own opinions but to say that Carrie murdered this song was way off base. Infact I think she helped make it an even better song not that Randy Travis did a horrible job, but it sounds great as a remake.
