Don't blame New England for federalism, blame war - even Jefferson Davis found he had to centralize authority in Richmond, institute a draft, manage war production - the need to centralize to win wars pushes a government to increased authority - look at the US military-industrial complex & the NSA/CIA that remained after WW2, the domestic intelligence surveillance we now have in the war against terrorism - the Confederacy would have had to fight Napoleon III in Mexico - & uh-oh

@SupernalOne If you knew anything about reconstruction, you would probably realize why the klan emerged. At any rate--- people are still alive whose parents fought; you do realize that? And it's not aside, b/c all your issues (you want help with) are BECAUSE the north won. Rampant federalization is at the root. Our "representatives" can do nothing, lol. Eg: the fed is suing states who r trying to oppose immigration. Yankees do not believe in self-determination, only dictatorship

well, the South had the Klan and lynchings, that wasn't very friendly either - whatever, it's been over for 150 years - a lot of Southern men fought only to defend their homeland, and a lot of Yankee were not advocates of emancipation - so it was a mixed bag of motives - tell you what, let's put the CW aside & work together to reform our government, to push out the extreme corporate influence, to figure out what needs to be done & force our representatives to take right action

@SupernalOne you mean, instead of just imprison huge numbers of black men, the way the north does now or offer them no employment and put on welfares? Idk, if south had said they'd give up slavery and go to the slave-wage-sweat-shop northeast folkway, then would the north have said "Great, you can secede now?" Doubtful. The southland peoples do not have slaves now, but they will not let them secede. North never gave them a reservation like Indians, either, which seems weird, maybe

If the South had not based its economy upon slave labor, would the Civil war even been fought at all?
remnants of a truly free and voluntary government fell in 1865 and died fully in 1868 when secession and therefore the founding principle of our freedom was outlawed. I'll be posting JD's inaugural address in full soon, it needs be read now in this financial crisis more than ever.

i had this idea that when the federal u.s government was made and states joined to the "union"
that when certain states wanted to break off from the union they were called "traitors" and then began the war
or am i completely off base :D

That's about it. That was what Lincoln tried to say (which doesn't make any sense since a union is voluntary. Sadly many Americans still think Secession is somehow wrong and going to destroy everything if they support it. (ridiculous) The founders never would have created the feds if they were just going to be another england and try to use force to occupy and control the states with an iron fist.

protection and for the financial elite to get even richer. The 1913 federal reserve institution is the ultimate pinnacle of this ideal. Now we have a country run by corporate enterprise. Everything you do is regulated by the fed now including the media, school, etc. because they pay the bills and attach the strings while lying to us and usurping more and more of our liberties. Look at the CSA and really read what it says, the "confederate states of america". It

is what it is supposed to be, this good rightous nation where everyone is free and is always out to do good but this as iraq and our current wars are showing most people isn't the case. Read the names of the two factions closely. The north didn't go by the USA it went by the "Union" ironic since it "I should say the RR's", the rich business men of the north wanted a union like the soviet union, england, etc with a strong central government allowing big business to explode with it's indisputable

facts as proof and hosing up my comments section I have to. I don't have a problem if people want to post comments and debate. But please use valid documented evidence as I have to prove your case nd
don't come in here acting all arrogant, belligerent and bigoted. The truth is much more sinister and I admit tough at first to take in but this is what the evidence is pointing to. I would love to believe that the US
