Om han har vokst opp med at de snakker norsk hjemme, hvorfor sier han jamkomst, og gåkschtad? Jaja, det er alltid hyggelig at folk har et ønske om å være norsk.

With all respect to Norwegians it was the Icelanders who discovered America first of all Europeans. I hope that is not neglected by the Norwegian-Americans.

Great! I saw the ship as it traveled through the Erie Canal on the way to Norway back in 1984.

Too bad we did not get to see much of the ship...lovely little lecture. But, really, I just wanted to see the ship.

I never knew there was a Gokstad replica in the States. That's amazing.
There are 2, Robert asp made his ship an exact replica of the Gokstad replica that was sailed to the states for the Columbian Exposition, 1890's in Chicago, he drove to Chicago a few times to take measurements.
When Gokstad was unearthed a few years earlier they decided based on contributuions to show the Vikings did and can do it, they then sailed to Chicago and donated the ship to the city, it's now in need of extensive repair, obviously more than 100 years old,
