April Vokey on the Dean River- steelhead hookup and fight.

While at our Dean River Lodge, April Vokey casts, hooks and lands a chrome Dean River steelhead (sea lice and all). Just around the corner from the ocean, it jumps and puts on a show.

The girl can flat out fish. As far as Duggerboy, maybe you can cast farther.

This isn't a video on distance casting. April read the water cast and found the fish. Bottom line. So you push a cast another twenty feet out, well you probably missed that fish. Good on you girl. I'm teaching my daughter to fly fish, first lesson was, men can't handle being out fished by a woman. Your one lucky woman getting to fish all those great places. If you ever fish the Thompson please leave me a few.

Beautiful Fish April. I can't wait to get out west, im just waiting to finish school for F+W in April and im on my way. Thinking of guiding for my first summer at least any recommendations on lodges that would be good to look into? Somewhere with trophy Steelhead would be preferred :)

I stand by my statement " men can't handle being out fished by a woman" There was no point for u to say could have cast father with your 10ft 8w.another statement of April fishing over thousands of fish makes it sound like this is really easy fishing- believe me, it isn't. But nice back-pedalling, nice to see you back on shore. One should know the water he wants to fish before wading right in! Hate to see any fishermen drown.
