Recognized nationally as an expert and educational leader in the theory and practice of service, Katherine Cauley, Ph.D., has worked to assist communities by integrating service learning into medical school curriculum.
Under Cauley's direction, the Center for Healthy Communities has flourished as a national and international example of medical school and community collaboration. As a community-academic partnership, the center works with more than 75 health and human services, faith-based, and local and state organizations to improve the health of the community and enhance health education.
Her influence extends beyond the Dayton region. She has served as a consultant to the World Health Organization, USAID, and South Africa Strengthening Civic Society Program, as well as with multiple universities and professional associations in the United States.
Cauley also serves as director of the International Health Education Program and professor in the Boonshoft School of Medicine, and as associate professor in the School of Professional Psychology.
