I wrote pukey rock tunes in Jacksonville, Florida, starting out with Bob Hucks, Steve Shrout, Bruce Greybeal, and Dick Hosch. We were the NEW BREED and we played the dances at Bishop Kenny High and at San Souci Civic Center on the weekends.
I went on to write and record music and other audio visual works with Mr. Frank Grosholz of Commercial Video Services, Mr. Tom Markham, renowned studio engineer, and Mr. Howard Yaws, Senior Information Officer for Reynolds Smith and Hills, who designed the shuttle launcher for NASA under contract to Martin Marietta.
I also played live music and toured night club circuits as a keyboard-singer and composer artist.
I remember working on stage with such popular artists as Ted Nugent, Allman brothers, Lynard Skynard, and many of their associate musicians, who helped them to stardom like Florida State champion pianist and professional model Tina Clark, who also enjoyed the participation of Jim Morrison and the Doors as we all did.
I also remember being tutored by science community giants like Professor Nearing of NOAA-USGS and Dr. Rowland of Roland Laboratories, who still dwarf the rock and roll crowd in my mind. Nearing could extract gold from sea water, and Roland gave the Navy a laser system, while I was studying electrolysis and recombinant water, waiting for my turn to do great things.
I'm still taking the scenic route to both places and I have always known and believed that music and science should always go hand in hand. They both have so much to do with math and counting.
