Friday I realized I needed a dark gong kind of sound for this idea of a tune I'm working on, couldn't find anything to satisfy my needs in my current equipment. Moved some junk furniture around instead, and the sound of this metal paper-whatever holder for a piece of old IKEA furniture sounded like it had good useful audio potential when it hit a set of shelves while moving it around.

Rigged up an old microphone below, pointing upwards into the tube that connects the metal to the holder, and tapped it hard with a finger, several times until finding the right balance. Resulted in this quick little demonstration of how the sound you're looking for might be right under your nose.

Used in this: Unmodified raw sample, bass boosted sample, amplified sample.
