An excellent 1933 film adaptation of the Eugene O'Neil play which is in itself an adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Man Who Would Be King. The movie stars singer and civil rights activist Paul Robeson and tells the story of a man from a small town that leaves home gets involved with murder, escapes prison and ends up the ruler of a Caribbean nation. It created quite a stir when it came out as in some scenes the main character has his shirt off!
