I love watching John's channel on youtube, but I do have to agree with this guy. John talks about eating pollen direct, which is fine but I love my honey! There are enzymes and stuff that bee's and animals impart to the end product that you just can't get eating all raw. though, once I can grow my own garden I plan to eat more veggies raw! I still love johns channell!

The argument that there are no vegan traditional cultures is weak since traditional cultures didn't have access to full range of vegan foods all year around so they may have needed some animal food. We can get Vitamin D supplements & Omega-3-containing-foods (flax seeds/oil, walnuts, chia seeds) all year around in the health food store; we can buy unlimited amounts of black sesame seeds, baby spinach, and other greens for iron, calcium and protein. Traditional cultures did not have this luxury.

Paul, you said you felt great on the raw vegan diet but your hormone levels tested low. Could it be that on a raw vegan diet, your body operates more efficiently and simply doesn't need as high a level of hormones to function optimally? You can't compare blood test levels for a very clean, healthy, 90-100% raw vegan with average blood levels for the population at large; it is natural to expect some differences.

Hormones are inter-related and Vitamin D is a master hormone. It could be that your Vitamin D levels were low and this cause your other hormone levels to be low on a vegan diet; that could easily be fixed with more Vitamin D supplementation or sunshine. Vitamin D is best absorbed with saturated fat, so on a raw vegan diet with very little saturated fat, one needs to supplement with more Vitamin D to get enough. What was your Vitamin D level?

Question for Paul: When you eat eggs, do you eat them cooked or raw, and do you eat just the yolk, or the egg white as well? (Personally, I eat just the yolk, because I believe that is where the nutrition lies that we are not getting from vegan sources, and I eat it raw.)

a dogma is just a dogma. Always be prepared to expand your mind and open up to new possibilities.

The reason we need animal foods is because plant foods have cell walls that holds in all the nutrients and animal foods do not. Our body can only break down some of the cell walls and most of it cannot be digested. We are not herbivors, we do not have a second stomach for fermentation that breaks down the cell walls.
We can digest fruit and green juices pretty well , but not whole vegetables as much. Animal foods are extremely healthy and the proteins are antiaging...

It's kind of awkward to see the intervierwer (Paul?) talking more than the guest.

I am sticking with the High raw vegan whole foods for now.
Just the smell of raw cheese and milk whether from a cow or goat makes me ill.
The only thing I could possible eat would be eggs have not tried them and no plans to.
Good Luck Paul on your new journey.
I value Johns opinions and can not wait to hear him speak.
John is a raw vegan and thinks that is best for him. He eats mostly his home grown vegetables. You can go to his site okraw and see more of his great videos. I will post more about this inter view tomorrow
