In one of Mumbai's newest neighbourhoods, I came across one of the world's oldest martial arts: Kalaripayattu (originally from Kerala).

Canadian journalist Anjali Nayar is travelling across India by train, bus, foot and, when necessary, by plane. She'll arrive in Delhi during the Commonwealth Games. Along the way, Anjali will tell the country's stories through its favourite pastimes. For the trip, she'll bring only the essentials on her back - camera, video camera and computer. Every day, Anjali will discover India's complex world of sports and games, whether she's worshipping the Hindu god Hanuman at a traditional mud pit wrestling school or taking in an old Bollywood movie. Sometimes she'll play in India's rumbling metropolises and other times in its bumbling villages. Through her Destination: Delhi blog, Anjali hopes CBCSports.ca readers will discover India and what sports and games mean to the country.
