  • how come LA does not use tower ladders

  • BADASS FOOTAGE!!

  • QUINT 3 - EAST LA !!!!!!!

  • to set the record straight, for most departments in Los Angeles and Orange County:

Chiefs: White helmets, they are the incident commanders/oversee operations

Captains: Red, they are incident command until chiefs arrive, in charge of certain operations and their company

Yellow: Engineers (lieutenants) which are in charge of their respective rig and also regular firefighters wear yellow.

Black helmets are used by some departments but they are mostly northern California.

  • Some wicked footage man!!!

  • Excellent video! And JPOC226, L.A.CoF.D. and LAFD don't have Lieutenants.

  • ok ty

  • LAFD & LAcoFD boh incorporate the same color scheme for thier helmets: Battalion Chiefs use white helmets , Capatins use orange, Firefighters and Engineers use yellow. After 9/11 LAcoFd allowed their personel to utilize the black FDNY style helmets in memory of the fallen FF's that day.

  • Yellow - Captains are identified by their yellow helmets. At large incidents these officers typically take on managerial roles.

  • Red - Lieutenants can be identified by their red helmets. Firefighters of this rank typically lead teams consisting of regular firefighters.

Black - Regular firefighters wear black helmets. Don't assume, however, that a black helmet signifies a lack of experience or leadership ability -- several of our past Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs are currently wearing black helmets and performing the duties of regular firefighters!
