" Fine, you are coming with me." She whispers and kissed the top of Joe's head, who she thought, was a cat...
Joe purred and meowed happily at the girl, but he was afraid of her father just by how she talked about him... Those words echoed in his head, like they were on repeat from an I-pod player.
"my dad would kill me if I bring home a cat.." and yet.. She brought him along with her.. "So that's the type of person the fat lady wants me to be like.." he thought. Surely he couldn't be like her anyway, he couldnt become a boy yet you know. He still had to have his 'true love's kiss'.
After a few minutes the girl arrived at an old run-down sheltered shack. Just by the looks of it, it was clear that she was poor and she put Joe down on his paws before fixing her ripped-sleeves to try and cover some bruise marks left there... Joe saw the state of her arms and immadietly he felt scared and worried for her, but was also surprised at the risks she'd be putting herself through just for him.
Soon enough, the black-haired girl picked him up again and breathed deeply to herself "Here we go again..." in a voice only her and Joe could hear, and she slowly walked towards the shack...
Joe looked around terrified. He was also disgusted at what was inside the shack. There was small sheets of paper lying everywhere, cigarette stubs at the feet of every broken chair. Suddenly the place was echoed with a booming voice which made the girl jump in fright..
"What the hell are you doing with that cat?!?! Leave it alone!!" the man had shouted with so much rage and anger, it was clear that his body actions showed that he stormed over to the girl and raised a closed fist... Joe was scared. Scared for his life. But strangely, he was scare fo the girl... And from his previous memory of the girl's bruises, he at once knew that she lived through this everyday.
"Dad! Leave me alone!!" She let go of Joe and struggled to protect herself from her father. The sight was unbearable. They were at each other, screaming and yelling, hitting and abusing.. Well, only her father was.. The girl did nothing but screamed in pain at every blow. Every hit. Joe couldn't bear it any longer.. He had this feeling that he needed to protect her, after all sh had saved his life. But what could he do?
"I'm only a freaking cat.." he thought as the girl yelped in pain, each sound made by her father, louder than the one before. Joe moved backward until his tail touched the wall. Her father looked at the cat and leave the girl lying lifeless on the floor crying.
"You are useless." He looked at Joe disgusted before grab the bat and hit Joe. He closed his eyes scared and shaking. " this is really over...." He thought.
"Ahhh!!!" someone screamed in pain. but that wasn't Joe. It was the girl who saved him. And she saved him again, the bat hit her back and she fell onto the ground, right infront of Joe.
"She...saved me...again..." Joe thought, he was really touched.
" Is the cat more important than your life, Demi?" The man asked angrily.
" No matter how small and unimportant it is, it's still a person, dad..." She sad as the tears rolled down her cheeks. She gently pulled Joe into her laps and covered him, incase her dad hit him again.
Demi's dad threw the bat on the floor and walked out angrily, slammed the door behind him. She sighed in relief and lied on the the floor, crying. Joe smelled blood.
her arms were bleeding and so was her left leg. he got to her beautiful face and licked her cheek. he did it to show how grateful he was. She open her eyes and smiled weakly at him. She slowly sat up and rubbed her arms.
" I wonder what your name is? Do you have an owner?" She asked as she picked him up, tried to find if he had a collar. She shook her head and held him close. She stood up and walked into a room. The room looked dirty with paper everywhere. there was a small bed in the corner of the room. " I don't think he'll be home until tomorow." She said as she placed him down. " Stay here, I need to change." She said and walked out, to another small room.
Joe sat there, he looked around disgusted. "There's no way I'm staying in this room." He thought and walked out.
When he was in the hallway, he heard footsteps. Normally, if he was a human, he would never hear this. He returned to the old room in case her father come back. But no. Demi came in with a towel wrapped around her body. Joe's eyes widened. She smiled at him and went to a small closet. joe's eyes followed her. She dropped her towel and started putting her clothes on.
" Now I like being a cat." Joe thought as he watch her. She was so beautiful even if she has bruises. She finished putting her clothes on and turned to Joe.
" Now let's get you something to eat." She smiled.
