Must be so awkward to be a horse and have some other creature randomly touch you everywhere and try to get on your back. Does this technique work with humans?
-
@SUZECONCLUSE When does she hit the horse?
-
@sukkeltjedukkeltje or maybe your impatient... This is a WILD. HORSE. You have to have patience with them or you could end up dead dude... Well, I guess thats what non horse people like you are. just plain impatient.

@mabellelune7 Best thing you can do is sit and talk with her. At a young age...at like 1 year old put a bareback pad on her and sinch it up. Don't try to sit on her until she is about 2 or so...but the best thing you can do is just work with her. and bond with her the best you can...that way she is more likely to be good when you ride her for the first time.

4:30 Finally you get on his beg >.< Well you really have to be faster because it's boring if you're so slow.

@bkonn I LOVE Clinton Anderson's method too!! I will always tell people that and they will go.. oh the Parille's are SO much better.. but I personaly like Clinton too!! :)

I certainly see the Clinton Anderson method at work here. I would love to be able to do something like this eventually. I'm determined to do this someday, though. Maybe my next horse will be an adopted mustang..

a mustang is no longer a mustang as it has been in contact with people. -.- do not deny, because it is so. If you do not believe: too bad. Sorry for my english. : D

Sorry to go on LOL. The other thing I was big on I never put a bit on them. To this day I own five three still do not wear a bit. My instructor when I was a kid always said train with the least amount of tack. Add if you must. I never trained with a bit because I never wanted to damage the mouth. You know your horse. All I can say they are not perfect they have off days. For the most part They are wonderful. Mustangs rule many over look them. Good for you. If you ever need help write me. :)
Do you have any advice on training a mustang if you are not a pro? lol I am getting a 3 month old and I really want to bond with her.

@mabellelune7 Yes, i only got back into horses 4 years ago after a 25 year break. I got hooked on Clinton Anderson and bought allot of his dvd's and watched his shows on RFD TV. The way he teaches you makes it seem soo simple...just be patient and listen to your horse. If they are doing something that you think is disobedient it usually means they dont understand what you are trying to tell them. Well that is my opinion and i am no expert. CA has a great dvd on foals too

How long was she working with that horse in general? Did she starting working with her since she was first adopted? How many hours did it take from getting her used to back weight & the stirrups moving to full on sitting on her? Or was this recorded in days not just hours? If so what steps each day & how many days & or weeks total? Sorry for all the questions but I will be rescuing a mustang in Dec from a horse auction & im looking for all the info I can. Oh & was she holding the reins loose?

@theWolfQueen13 started working with her the day she arrived from the BLM, i followed Clinton Anderson's dvd "starting under saddle" to the "T", i highly recommend this dvd for starting any horse. It took approx 1 month to get to this point on u tube. Started her out in a round pen, worked with desensitizing her with bags, laid across her bare back, put saddle pads on her, then the saddle (which was very scary and dangerous the first time). Once they gain your trust they will do anything.

Excellent! This just goes to show you that if you do all the necessary preparations, the first ride doesn't have to be a rodeo. Just curious, but what horsemanship method did you use?
