A total solar eclipse takes place, on average, about once every 18 months.
It is the most stunning experience!
The shadow comes over like a huge wall of darkness!

Thanks. A total solar eclipe is a really unique experience: it gets cold, windy, quite and the colours just drain out of everything from about 15 mins before totality (something to do with all parts of the spectrum dimming together rather than seperately, as at sunset when the red bit is the last to go).
