The brainchild of former Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, Rainbow quickly developed into one of the '70s most successful heavy metal bands behind charismatic front man Ronnie James Dio. Together, the duo would produce a string of acclaimed albums which are still considered classics of the genre. But the group would change their musical approach numerous times following the singer's departure, eventually confusing and alienating much of their audience. Releasing eight albums during it's decade long run, the band finally came to an end when Blackmore departed to rejoin his old Deep Purple comrades in a full-fledged reunion in 1984. And while the impact of Rainbow's influence has faded with the intervening decades, theirs was a crucial chapter in the development of heavy metal and hard rock.

Danger, danger the Queen's about to kill
There's a stranger, stranger and life about to spill
Oh no, move me out of harm
I need a spell and a charm
Fly like the wind
I'm no pawn, so be gone, speed on and on
Kill the King
Tear him down
Kill the King
Strike him down

Power, power it happens every day
Power, devour all along the way
Oh no, move me out of harm
I need a spell and a charm
Fly like the wind
I'm no pawn, so be gone, speed on and on
Kill the King

Treason, treason, the specter looms again
Treason, treason, the realm is safe and then
Oh no, move me out of harm
I need a spell and a charm
Fly like the rainbow
I'm no pawn, so be gone, speed on and on

Kill the King
Tear him down
Kill the King
Got to take his crown

Kill the King
He'll rule no more
Strike him dead

He'll rule no more
Strike him dead
The people roar
Kill the King
Take his head
Down, down, down, down
Oh, kill
Oh, kill
Oh, oh

  • @stargazerr2012 What I see right now is the rebirth of musicianship. With the wide spread of unknown bands through the internet, more and more people are discovering new bands who still use the "old style" (raw instrument usage) and make incredible songs. Search for Sleep or Vektor... incredible bands.

  • @RiseoftheHammer ΤΟΝ ΤΕΩΣ?..χεχεχε..ελα ρε πατριδα!..ΤΟΠ ΚΟΜΜΕΝΤ ΝΑ ΟYΜΕ!.. ΄; )

  • 1 dislike? TREASON TREASON THE SPECTER LOOMS AGAIN!

  • @ArpeggioBear that's cool. i'm 48 and have seen these bands live many times, iv'e seen dio 4 times but never with rainbow.jim morrison had a prediction back in 69 that there would be no instruments in the future of music, just a series of tapes rolling with one person singing or speaking into a mic and he was right.looks like the true musicianship is now a thing of the past. really sucks.

  • @ArpeggioBear i do play metal! iv actually recorded a few songs dude ! :D

  • @stargazerr2012 there's no hope of seeing great stuff in the future, this kind of stuff will only be an artifact? a lot of youngsters want to see this kind of music, they want to experience what their father or grandfather had experienced, even me, i'm still 16 years old and my dream is seeing stuff as great or maybe even better in 10 or 5 more years, well it's just my dream anyway, making my gf liking this stuff is one thing, but everyone... dunno

  • @ArpeggioBear we have to face it man. time has changed and music has changed.great bands like these have came and gone.the music now will just keep getting shittier and shittier.sad but true my friend.

  • @DjentlyProgressive people like you that always mention those kind of stuff that makes them even popular, if you really want to keep metal, rock or whatever alive, don't say it but play it! learn real music show to the world that Rock n Roll never dies, Long Live Rock n Roll

  • fuck i wish i had a time machine that brought me back to the late 1975's so i can jam out to this shit everyday and wont have to worry about Bieber and his army of gay pop artists taking over the music industry.. please my friends keep metal alive /m/!!!

  • @mdavies91

Speaking to the choir guy, I was the one who pulled the Rob Halford quote and was also the first one to defend their metal legitimacy. But, I can see your point as I was defending a point (against Mr. Margos down there) that might not need defending.

Its depending on what the definition of "is" is... Politicians lol!
