I am guessing he forgot about the dark ages, inquisitions, indulgences, and incredible evil characters of many Popes. I did a video on the Popes sometime ago, this video is posted as a response it.

As usual, the original video has comments and voting disabled. You will find no such censorship here. Enjoy!

Andrew, I am only seeing this now, about 2.5 years after it was posted. Thank you for doing so. People NEED to see (and be able to discuss) just what the agenda is for some on the religious right.

You remind me of that famous scene in the Wizard of Oz, when Toto pulled back the curtain.

He is talking about the Catholic Church. It's the only one. Protestant churches are heretical sects. Like the LDS. Just study the history and you will be mindblown that protestant with their stupid sola scriptura still exist. BTW. The bible is a collection of books that were brought together in one book by no one else then the TRUE on Church, the Roman Catholic Church.

The Catholic Church is the most Bible believing Church in the world. We read the Bible every Mass both from the new and the old testament, most of our liturgy comes from the Bible, and yes we read it in our homes. We just don't see as much importance in memorizing it like many Protestants do with their favorite verses, a failed attempt at 'disproving' Catholicism.

2 I just did a quick read through on Bonhoeffer, and I do not see how your depiction of his faith squares with reality. He certainly was NOT a "practical atheist", he may well have been a religious humanist (he certainly lived out his faith), and I do not see where he denies every cardinal doctrine of the Christian faith tradition.

Do you have sources for these claims?

Your last statement I agree with. The Catholic Center Party was key to passing the enabling act, which gave Hitler dictatorial powers.

But Hitler (whose mind was a jumble of confused ideas - the man was self-educated), was NOT what one would call a practicing Catholic.

He may, at times have SAID he was, if he thought it would give him a political advantage at times, but it was also common for Hitler to LIE to people.

I will have to read more about Bonhoeffer, and his views.

I'm German and know the history of my country very well.

“I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so”

(Hitler to Gen. G. Engel, 1941)

Bonhoeffer dissociated himself from the church and the church dissociated from him. He was a practical atheist and a religious humanist who DENIED virtually every cardinal doctrine of the historic Christian faith.

    So, STOP telling lies!

It's a non-controversial fact that the rise of Hitler happened only with the massive help of the churches.

2 and Protestant followers (including high ranks in the clergy), but he also had many Christians who opposed him, and his party (often at great risk to themselves). Some actively tried to have him either assassinated or removed (like Bonhoeffer). So while Hitler was born a Catholic, he really never considered himself to be an observant Catholic, though he would use the Church to further his own ends.

I am a Catholic, and my views are about as opposite of Voris as one can get. (and most Catholics do not agree with him). I have been pretty critical of the hierarchy and the way they have handled the abuse scandal, and I would also be highly critical of Pope Pius IX's silence as Hitler was committing genocide against the Jews of Europe.

But his government was NOT Catholic. Nazism is a neo-pagan, racist, mixture of German ultra-nationalism (to the point of mysticism). He DID have many Catholic

What he is proposing is a complete scrapping of the Constitution, and establishing a theocracy (or what he terms a Catholic monarchy) in its place. There are some from the evangelical right who propose similar ideas.

What they fail to realize is that no matter how good someone may be, having absolute power will almost always inevitably lead to corruption (All power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely: Lord Acton -- who was referring to the pope).

I remember something the Dalai Lama said recently, when asked about the huge numbers of religions around the world. He compared God to a massive diamond. No one can see the whole thing, each person can only see a facet or two. And thus each comes away with a slightly different perception. And some of those are so different that they are in other faith traditions. But no one human being holds a monopoly on the truth.

Those who claim to do so are falling into the trap of triumphalism. Like Voris
