Major spoilers for the Chasing Methuselah fanfic!

Plot: Kagome and Miroku see their relationships with Inu and Sango won't work, especially in Miroku's case. Instead of giving up love to save his heart, he accidentally captures Kagome's. The 1st verse/chorus are Kagome's POV. She's enraptured with Miroku and over the time she's known him, she's watched his kazaana grow, thus his growth as a person. One night as Miroku contemplates life, Kagome comes to talk and the only thing she can do to comfort him is to just be there. No matter what happens to him, she'll be there for support and love. They decide to keep their love a secret.
2nd verse/chorus: Miroku's POV. He loves Kagome, but she's adamant that she can save him. He dreads the day she realizes that the kazaana will really kill him, and his time has almost run out. Even so, he still loves her.
3rd verse: Naraku captures Kagome and tells her Miroku will die that day, without having a life and family with her. Kagome runs to try and save Miroku. When she finds him, the kazaana is raging out of control. He begs her to leave but she won't and she goes up to him. As the wind tunnel spreads, Miroku tells her to close her eyes. She does, shedding a tear, and they have their last kiss. In the blink of an eye, the kazaana explodes. Inuyasha runs in and grabs Kagome as Miroku's killed. She's heartbroken but knows he will always live in her heart. It ends w/ Kagome placing flowers at his grave by the Goshinboku and gazing at the only thing left that proves he was ever alive: a single sacred sutra.
