  • Hi Dawn, love the flower. Do you know if books are acid free? I thought maybe if the book was old enough, it wouldn't matter anymore. Thank you so much. Carlene

  • Hi Carlene,

I'm sorry but I don't honestly know if vintage books are acid free or not. I suppose it could be different with each book.

  • Love the video! Can I ask how you are holding your phone/camera up to shoot the video?

  • I balance my iPhone on a metal yard stick that's wedged into my paper storage and sticking out over my desk. It's all very high-tech! Hahaha!

  • coloring the paper part with chalks looks awesome too

  • Yay!

  • Just a note from a librarian. I LOVE that you are using old books. I made a run recently to a second had store for old books for the aged and discoloured effect. I love the robin hood book and the french title I found. Crazy fun! Fact is old books really do deteriorate and wind up in the trash or recycle so why not use them this way? I love this tut. Thanks for posting! Great little trick with the string. Thanks again.

  • so cute! I was making kind of same flowers (same principle)... but I will definitely try this as well...those buttons are so cute!

  • you talking too much

  • I don't like the idea of using the actual page from the books themselves but would rather scan/copy it onto cardstock...... I love books too much to tear it up.

  • what a cute idea. I can assure you that the paper in vintage books will not be acid free but depending on the craft you are doing, this is great.

  • Thank you sooooooo much Dawn. This was extremely helpful and so cute. I am a very crafty person and trying to MAKE my 11 yr old more like MOMMY (smile) and she's actually loving your website. She also says thank youuuuuu MISS DAWN... LOL
