The Glenachulish Ferry -North Strome to Stromeferry.wmv

A landslide on the 22nd December, 2011 effectively closed the A890 from Lochcarron to Kyle/Plockton, and it's been shut ever since, which means a 140 mile detour via Garve, Beauly, Drumnadrochit and Invermoriston. Not handy for the locals, many of whom commute daily to work between villages. The council have since laid on a ferry, the Glenachulish, that normally runs from Glenelg to Kylerhea on the Isle of Skye. it is a 6 car turntable ferry and runs 6 days a week. I commute from Kyle to Ullapool on a regular basis, so the ferry is a God send!
