Bolting the neck into the body.
My guitar project. Buying guitar parts from all over and putting them together into a nice-looking and sounding strat-like electric guitar.

  • Do you still don't have nutz???

    LOL

  • Hi I am building a guitar and I am wondering what kind of bridge I should get. Also how deep should the pocket be in the guitar body be so that the neck fits at a level where the adjustments to the saddles can be made. I am thinking of buying a neck as I dont want to attempt to make that. does it matter the length of the neck. I have read that most are 25.5 inches. Thanks for your video. It will help me when I get to that stage.

  • I was inclined to get a hardtail strat bridge or Gibson, but since the body I bought had the big hole for a tremolo I decided to go with that. Solid block will give you nice sustain in this case.

The depth of neck pocket depends on thickness of the neck, but are mostly standard, and string height ends up being adjusted through the saddles. If wrong, you may correct depth using a shim.

Neck length will allow you to have more frets, but prob sounds different (I'll leave that to other users)

  • hey i bought a neck for the strat body which is only a tiny bit smaller than the pocket where u fit the neck but it is only a tiny pit smaller than the pocket hole is it still possible to fit it or wud i be better off buying another neck

  • Hi, this neck I bought is also bit smaller than the pocket in the body - I'd say a bit less than 2mm. Np, if the neck follows about the same width as the string separation imposed by the bridge. Just check to which side of the pocket your neck needs to be attached (and which one will have a blank space), or if in the exact middle of the pocket.

If the problem is the opposite, you need to carve some space at the side of the neck pocket in the body - which is probably tricky.
