Here is the resulting explosion of one of my black powder firecrackers.

Potassium Perchlorate is the chemical that is normally used in the creation of firecrackers and is a much more explosive chemical than black powder but these ones I made are not bad for a black powder driven explosive.

Casing is 1-1/2" long with a 3/4" diameter and a 2-1/2" long exposed canon fuse. Fill is, as suggested by the album name, canon grade black powder.

Fuse & Casings were ordered from http://www.pyrocreations.com. Black Powder was ordered from http://www.grafs.com. Water putty was purchased at any local hardware store like Osh or Home Depot.

Only experienced pyrotechnicians like myself are allowed to build these types of devices so don't try this at home. And yes, I have the proof of my experience here:

  • how many gram do you use for this firecracker?

  • @FirePyroPhil I didn't measure it out. Just filled the tube and capped it. It could have been louder but it was my first attempt. Need to do the caps better next time.

  • @FirePyroPhil I didn't measure it out but rather just filled the container up until full. You can see the size relative to my hand when I'm lighting it. They get much louder after a good tape job as seen in my other video titled, "Black Powder Firecracker - Taped Up Tightly" Gotta look through my videos to find it.

  • will u make a vid of how you made it

  • Yeah, on my next batch, I'll document the process.

  • You'll probably get a much bigger boom if you make your own black powder. Not that hard, and a lot of fun.

  • @o2thx ok thanks man ;)

  • Great big bang!

Iam allways fascinated from the people, which are posting about flash powder is better,stronger...etc.

A bit of respect is needed to the both of.

If this will accidentally set off in your hand, then you will dont think to talk about bigger and louder explosion with flash powder...

  • thats good, but just a note, that flash powder is ALOT lowder and a better explosions then black powder.... and you can make it =)
