This past summer, artist and muralist Jamar Pierre (www.nolaredhot.com) teamed up with Young Audiences and the New Orleans Recreation Department to work with students at Abramson School to create a unique mural about New Orleans culture.
Hey Jamar, I'm a New Orleans artist still living in exile since Katrina. I work for Young Audiences up here in Kansas City, Mo. teaching murals in the high schools here. I gotta tell you I LOVE the work you're doing! I hope if I ever get to move home, I get to shake your hand and talk about the classes. Keep strong, people like you make a real difference to these young people :)
This is amazing, Jamar! I'm so very proud and amazed at your work. It's a pleasure and an honor having known and grown up with you Seeing your progress and success as a painter in a field where most don't get the recognition they deserve until post-mortem gives me hope for the future of art. Keep up the good work.
