as a HK Chinese born in 1980s... i am very thankful to the children of that generation, whom become our parents whom built up Hong Kong as a metropolitan city, somewhat more than a city...most of them had a terribly 'humble' childhood...

It was after the war, a lot of Hong Kong citizens were suffering from poverty. But you know, poor people could enjoy a simple life, it was not too bad.
