Nakshatra is one of the 27 groups of stars within our galaxy. Approximately each day the moon travels through different nakshatras, the times which are indicated in purple marks what time the moon enters each nakshatra. These nakshatras are archetypes, with a different characteristic that have a different impact on your day. If you clipped the back reference page, there is a table that shows you which activities are more auspicious to perform when the moon travels from each nakshatra.

The nakshatra, your Moon is in at the time of your birth is called Nakshatra. This placement has a significant impact on your behavior. You can use the AstroVed calendar to locate which day your own nakshatra or birth star falls in each month.
