Team Lovell had a good showing at the inaugural King of the Hammers rock race, an extreme event combining desert racing and rock crawling for the first time. Check out what Brad and Roger Lovell had to say about this unique event.

  • @blibbax I fully agree with you, When I mentioned a race with stock trucks I was thinking of a much easier rock crawling section of the race, but still tough enough that maybe some couldn't make it, clearly these are the most extreme and most capable rock crawling trucks, for the winner of this race that would be bragging rights, from the show room to the race coarse.

  • @adsabine1 Something like a Defender 90, a Mog, a H1 or a Rubicon could probably make it with a very slow time and a lot of winching.

  • @jmkustoms The Raptor would do great in the desert portion, but the rock crawling part is brutal! I don't think any factory 4x4 could make it, maybe the Rubicon? No ,not even the Rubicon, The Duramax concept truck is still just a concept unfortunately, But it wouldn't be as off road ready as the Power Wagon, although the Chev concept has large tires where that is the Power Wagons short comings. The manufacturers are finally waking up to producing 4x4s that have a little ability.

  • @adsabine1 ford f150 raptor and the chevy duramax consept truck. might have a chance

  • I am very aware that no stock truck could make it in this race, it would just be nice to see them try and fail..It would even be better if someone made something stock that could be competitive here.

  • @adsabine1 Clueless

  • Why not add a 1/3 road section too! 1/3 Rock and the last 1/3 fast desert! That would breed a whole new truck! I love the idea here too! I would love to see if any factory trucks could even finish this race! The Power Wagon? Rubicon, Hummer-H1? That is about it for capable trucks.

  • Logic? what more logical than a true off road race. Fast whoops, slow rocks, its what the west is all about.

  • I don't really see the logic in combining desert racing and rock racing. They could throw in a deep water crossing and force everyone to be amphibious as well, but so what?

  • The Carbra gives it thumbs up - if it had thumbs...
