Here is another special treat for all you youtubers out there who enjoy making connections with marine mammals in some special way. It is a video about a beluga encounter I did with Shedd Aquarium belugas Mauyak and Miki at Mystic Aquarium's Arctic Coast Exhibit on April 5th, 2009. It was really fun to interact with them.
Here is a little description of Mystic Aquarium's Beluga Encounter which is usually held from May until October:
Put on waterproof gear and wade waist-deep into the water of the Arctic Coast exhibit with the whales and trainers. During this 90-minute program, you will be able to touch the whales back and belly and see how they breathe, spout and "sing." Aquarium trainers will explain how we care for the whales and demonstrate the way in which encounter sessions are beneficial to the whales health and well-being.
Participants must be 5 feet tall and children ages 15 and under must be accompanied by a paying/participating adult.
Includes one admission ticket to Mystic Aquarium and one photograph taken by Sharp Shooter Photography. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to encounter time. The usually price is about $159 a person and the member price being around $150. Thanks for the comment. While we were not allowed to touch Miki for he was still learning from his mom, we did get to meet and play with him for a little bit. He was still present during the encounter.
