Why do you want to build a website using CSS in the first place? That's mainly because you can instantly make changes to a group of webpages by editing a single style sheet. And building a website using CSS is much easier than you think. Besides, you don't need specific applications. You just need a text editor to edit CSS files and a web browser to view changes. That means you don't need theme-based website-building applications like RapidWeaver. You can just start with nothing and end up with a nice website by just editing a style sheet.

Many PHP themes are built with CSS. If you want to create your own themes for phpBB, WordPress and RapidWeaver, you need to use CSS. Don't be afraid. Again, building a website using CSS is easy as long as you know how to use a graphic editor and also how to edit HTML a little bit.

In this video tutorial series, we use a common graphic application and a text editor to build a website. You can use any graphic application (Adobe Fireworks, Adobe Photoshop, Graphic Converter...) to create themes. You can also use any text editor or HTML editor (Adobe Dreamweaver, TextEdit, BBEdit, Windows' NotePad...).

In the last tutorial, we briefly explained the relationship between a webpage and a style sheet. Using BBEdit, we actually start editing our CSS file to make our index page look better in this tutorial. Again, you can use any text editor like TextEdit and NotePad (Windows). And the template files are provided under "Building a Website Using CSS 02."
