Having been in similar situations - it may just be "less-than-perfect" monitors - it is really hard to stay in tune if you can't hear yourself. This may also (at least partly) account for the guitar sync problems that awaken1001 and ariokanariao noted. Of course, I don't know - just supplying possible factors.

You are right, awaken1001, the guitar being not in line with the drums is in fact because the guitarist isn't aware of the fact that the measure changes from 3 bars 4/4 to 1 bar 3/4 and back, 3 bars 4/4 ; 1 bar 3/4 etc.

That's a shame because it's really a damn good guitarist (see for instance perpetual change done by this group, it's awesome !))
