  • is there a theory behind the formula...; how come it goes maj, min, min, maj, maj, min, dim, maj?

  • The musical term for this lesson is Diatonic Triads - It's a common function in music theory . when I put this lesson together I wanted to make it simple as possible , if you like get more info on Diatonic Triads , try google , there's lots more info .

Thats that great thing about the guitar , when you know a few rules , things just fit .

  • @cheeto165 yes sure can.

  • This guy does kno what hes doing good work just one concern,,, I noticed u didn't bar ur F major. I was taught the F major is barred cuz the root note is ur low E 1st fret that's why it's the Fmaj...... Basically does that matter in this c major chord progression?

  • I've been looking all over the web for the key to chord chance. Thank you this info means alot to me keep it up we need more like you

  • I was woundering if you can use the circle of fifths to come up with the chords for any key, But i'm noticing that people act as if there are no sharps or flats(Chords). With the circle, to the left of C is F, and to the right is G(The majors for Key C) Then 4 minors, 2 on right are A & D, but on left the next two are B flat and E flat, so could i use an E-Flat-Minor to fit in key of C? (I'm still learning)

  • wait, all these chords can be played in that key?

And btw, there is no such thing as key of major or minor?

And one more thing, if I got this right, there is a connection between this and the circle of fifths? this is new material to me, but I find it really intresting now as I got really into the music theory!

  • I like how you almost think of notes as your pets, like "this is D, the fat one"

  • i saw recently in a mel bay magical guitar chord chart that the 3rd chord was always a 7th chord and i think the 6th was a 7th too ? ? ? could this be possible ?

  • Thanks, very good

  • Thank you for the lesson !

  • So well explained .... Thank you !
