18th July 2011. A queue of people await the arrival of the now-familiar catamaran passenger-only vessel MV Ali Cat , with her new Argyll Ferries livery , slowly creeps into the linkspan , which was previously used by the three 'Clyde Streakers' Caledonian MacBrayne Juno , Jupiter & Saturn , before the car ferries were withdrawn. After people from Gourock and Dunoon get used to the idea of not having a 'Calmac' car ferry and given time , this passenger-only service should bed-in and succeed , as the service is still from town centre to town centre , whereas the Western vehicle ferry doesn't. Argyll Ferries Ltd is a subsiduary of Caledonian MacBrayne Ferries. The Ali Cat was once on the Solent with Isle of Wight Cruises then came north around 2001 as a part-time chartered vessel and now bought outright for this full time service.
