@allideas2 The Cold War was the largest manifestation of the folly that is the Truman Doctrine. It was felt that the proliferation of Communism anywhere in the world was a threat to the United States, hence the US humiliating itself in Korea and Vietnam, and this policy continues to live on in the guise of the "war on terror."

It is hypocritical, it trashes the concept of sovereignty of the nation-state, and it will cause America to fall from over-extending its resources.

Capitalism supports the interests of an elite minority and socialism supports the needs of the workers, the peasants, and the majority of the world's people.
