Hajj 2008 - Day of Arafat - Mountain of Mercy (Jabal Rahma) - Part 1 of 2

The day of Arafat. This is the momentous and most anticipated day of Hajj. Pilgrims have assembled on the plain of Arafat for the "Standing at Arafat", a time to atone for ones sins and ask of the bounty and mercy of God.

This video shows a quick scan of the pilgrims who are assemble around the Mountain of Mercy (Jabal Rahma) where the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gave his last sermon.

The video does not do justice for the immensity of the assembly present on the day of Arafat. There are literally millions of pilgrims from all over the world who had assembled in this area for this most important rite of the Hajj rituals. The whole area was filled with the sounds of prayers, duas and quran recitation being made by all pilgrims.

The standing at Arafat is in many ways a rehearsal for the Day of Judgment, where Muslims believe we will be raised up once again and assembled together to await to judgment. People will stand and wait for the accounting my God to begin, hoping for his mercy and forgiveness, fearing his anger and wrath.

I was standing at the same spot as you my friend. We didnt go across the street but stood at the same spot as you...I'll load up my video so you can see...

I missed Hajj soo much, inshallah i hope i go again at least for Omra...May yours and mine as well as others Hajj get excepted inshallah. Ameen.
