Hi Carolyn, just wanted to say you are so beautiful and inspiring. Also, thanks for your honest review on the BKT. Have you heard about Design Essentials Strengthening Therapy System it seems great and safe. I too am looking for a alternative to relaxers--I have been natural for 2 years.

You'd do good with protective styles like braids, crochet braids and sengalese twist. Theyre very low maintanece, they last anywhere from 1-3mos and u can rinse ur scalp as needed after evey workout.

@CherryAppetite I will take your advice because my hair is turning into a frizzy mess (see my more recent videos), and I have prayed and ask God for a healthy solution. I don't want to give up, but I a SO tired of the extra work required to detangle and style it every morning. Waaaaahhhhhh!!!!! :-( Thanks for the support though!

@TheMarcyLandry True, it just is. Why can't some of us be happy with what our hair "is"????
I use organix , Fantasis heat protect and infusium 23 to take care of my hair. I am 2 years natural and love it would not want it any other way. I had to get away from relaxers. I try to color once every 3 months. My hair turns white not gray so coloring is a 911. I love my hair it has never been so pretty and healthy. I get so much praise from others now that I have gotten my hair to this point. Take this as a set back, embrace and love your hair and remember that hair will grow back. Take care

@mshard4you Thanks so much for sharing your tips as well as the encouragement to continue on past the one-year mark in my relaxer!! I hope one day to be saying the same thing as you are about my hair. Is there anywhere I can see your hair for inspiration?

I used Suave's 30 day product. I did the Japanese straightening - After many "smoothing" repititions (8 hours) it looked like a bad relaxer. When I got home, I restyled using oil sheen & pink lotion - it was like a relaxer but better texter and lasted 6 mos. Out of curiosity, I tried the Suave product, used oil sheen during the blow dry and flat iron process - and guess what? It worked very well. I think that it's best to review the process of hair products for what you know best, is wise.

@14freedominramona I am really glad it worked for you. However, I am DONE experimenting with these types of products. Continued success to you though!

@lwonde2789 Hi, sorry for the delayed response. Your comment was flagged as spam. You'd be surprised, I have made it over a year without getting a touch-up. Once you are used to chemical straighteners for 30+ years, it hard to get used to seeing yourself a different way. I must say the last three months have been difficult because I exercise for over an hour 5 mornings/week. However, I am committed to keep trying. Thx!
