"Do you love Cleante' , or don't you?"
She's in love with Valere. Just saying. I really like the blocking that was done here.

Any English version of the play would be changing the words, considering it was originally written in French. I know that they were improvising, but there are also many different translations, including some that don't rhyme at all, and no one version is correct.

verrry different interpretation from what ive seen before (but i have only seen a professional version). I think the performances are on the whole pretty good, and I'm really very impressed by Dorine's performance in particular.

I would like to say that I despise people who have nothing but bad to say on YouTube posts. I personally think this was very funny. :) My school is doing Tartuffe (I'm Elmire), and I've learned a lot about my character by the way that other people portray her. Kudos for the comeback on improvising, because it is so TRUE.
this blocking sucks, im doing tartuffe and im playing dorine, and we have so much more physical. all you guys are just standing there talking to eachother. horrible direction. moliere made this play to be physical, and why did you change the words? big thumbs down. you should never change the words, its in rhyming cuplets, if you change a word it wont rhyme anymore. horrible horrible horrible!

Hm... where to start....
First, we don't overact. if that's what you meant by physical, then I could care less.
If you meant that Tartuffe should be more touchy-feely then I think I should tell you that even getting the ply onto the stage at our uber-conservative private college was momentous in itself, if the play had been more overtly sexual than it already was, we might have lost the drama production altogether.

Finally, we didn't change the words intentionally. It's called improvising. It's preferable than standing there silent until you remember your line. Of course we tried to stay with the script but if we'd slavishly stuck to the rhyme on stage then some of us would still be standing there trying to remember our lines.
I have yet to see a more physical performance of Tartuffe then ours, and while I'm sure they exist ours was fine.

If you want to prove me wrong then post video of your own production when it is completed, and then, -maybe- you will have just cause to so arrogantly call our presentation "horrible".
