  • While I didn't much like seeing the pavement under it's feet, it was a treat to see the Nene up close and to hear him talk to us. Mahalo.

  • The pavement was a wheelchair accessable trail out to a few on one of the craters. These silly birds didn't care where they walked or who was next to them. Probably could have touched them if I wanted to (I wouldn't though of course!).

  • would it be ok if i used this just to show a clip of what a Hawaiian Goose sounds and looks like for my Anchor Project for Science? Thank you

  • Sure, but don't forget that not all of the honks are the goose. Some are me honking back!

  • Wonderful! I wanted to see a Nene because, although I know it's the state bird, I've never seen one up close. Thanks!

  • I've seen a nene in Hawaii. It was so beautiful!

  • This bird is banded - one is probably a USFWS band and the other a species-specific band. These beautiful birds are making a come-back. I filmed them in Kaua'i in 2008.

  • Beautiful photo of the Nene. She is beautiful. I have missed them the last few trips mauka.

  • Ok thanks!!
