  • the crisis was predicated on fannie/freddie's "implicit guarantee," which has nothing to do with free markets.

  • Substantially? We are at just over 10%, which should be the same as your country (whatever that is). Prior to the financial crisis and recession, the U.S. had by far the lowest unemployment rate of any industrialized country for several decades.

Prior to government involvement in medicine in the 1960s, healthcare was so inexpensive that people did not need insurance. The insurance industry lobbied to get the government involved

  • @BikiniBabe1985 FAIL! Our unemployment rate is substantially lower than yours at the moment, we didn't suffer the worst of this recession because our banks are regulated. Also, our personal income taxes are higher but our corporate taxes are lower than America. The government here is proposing reducing them farther. As for the "long lines", man at least I can get in a line, whereas if an insurance company arbitrarily decided that you no longer have insurance, you don't have a line to stand in.

  • George W. Bush SHOULD have been impeached AND convicted for his corruption, stupidity and incompetence. And Bush's absolute refusal to learn from his mistakes and/or change his mind.

  • At what point does it become an issue of personal responsibility? The healthcare systems in Canada, Britain, France are absolutely inferior to ours. There is a concept known as supply and demand and allow me to explain it to you. If a good is supplied for free to everyone there where will be unlimited demand. That is why waiting lines for simple procedures are so extensive, especially compared to the U.S. That is also why they have much higher tax rates and always higher unemployment

  • Do you know where over half of healthcare spending comes from already? The government. Americans are not forced into personal debt due to HC costs, they choose to pay the high costs and they choose not to save money for when they need (not want) care. They choose to have kids, they choose to buy homes that they cannot afford, they choose to buy several cars, they choose to live beyond their means, they choose to eat fastfood, they choose to smoke cigarettes, they choose to not excerise.

  • "I realize that government run healthcare never works"

Tell that to the Canadians ... and the Norwegians ... and the British ... and the French ... etc etc etc.

Do you think EVERYONE buys your horseshit?

Apparently, YOU'RE one of the sheep who reflexively scream about socialized medicine while ignoring the 1000s going bankrupt due to unmanageable HC costs. National debt? Are you aware of the PERSONAL debt Americans are forced into due to HC costs? Single payer is the only solution.

  • I'm not even conservative. I just realize that government run healthcare never works and that we are bankrupt as a nation. The interest on the national debt alone is 5 billion dollars. Once again, you offered no rebuttals to any of my facts, just childish insults. Apparently you are one of the sheep who accept everything that the left-wing establishment tells you without thinking for yourself.

  • "Maybe you are one of the millions of parasites living on welfare right now, stealing from the people who are actually working."

Where do you conservative morons get this information? Where?

And what kind of work do you do?

  • If you are so smart then why don't you offer an actual rebuttal to one of the above statements, rather than some childish insult? Maybe you are one of the millions of parasites living on welfare right now, stealing from the people who are actually working. All of my above comments are indisputable facts and that is probably why you have to resort to your juvenile rhetroic. Go ahead and try to offer some facts to dispute any of my above claims.
