Praha is what old Europe was. The architecture galore as it was a seat of power in different kingdoms. The city remains as it was, and that charm can be seen all around ranging from Gothic to renaissance.
The Vltava river runs right into the city and provides a good backdrop to a number of attractions including the Prague castle. The bridges across the river are attractions themselves, the Charles bridge is full of tourists, musicians, artists and small vendors during the day, and attracts young and younger at heart in the night with liquor in hand. The same can be said about most of the old town squares.
There are a number of tourist companies offering site seeing trips, we only used the public transit and taxis to go around. The city felt safe. The public transit is very good, there are tons of trams running around, and the metros run so deep below, one of the escalator ride takes more than two minutes and the angle of ascend makes you stand at 60 degrees.
Beer looks like the major drink, may be because of the summer heat. Food and drinks are not very expensive, $10-15 should give you a very good dinner with drinks.
Praha is not dirty, neither it is posh. Every one seem to have a job, but does not seem to earn much. It felt like just another former communist city slowly transforming itself.
We enjoyed our stay, infact stayed one more day than the original plan, and probably will go back again.
