AGC's chief executive officer, Stephen E. Sandherr, urges Washington to resolve an unrelated policy dispute that brought billions worth of airport construction projects to a halt in late July. During an August 1st news conference at New York's LaGuardia Airport with U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and Federal Aviation Administrator Randy Babbitt, Sandherr explained how the construction shutdown was hurting tens of thousands of construction workers unfairly. Thanks in part to AGC's efforts, Congress passed legislation later that week to restart airport construction work.
