Around The Region takes a glimpse in the makeup of today's library. Shot at Lake County Public Library's Main Branch in Merrillville, Indiana. Produced by Nick Mantis of New Millennium Productions.
Great library, but ugh is it ugly with the architecture that screams the worst of the late 70's "modern" style. The spiral staircasing that protudes out of the building and is finished in yellow is absolutely horrible to look at. And have you ever tried to walk those stairs? Whoever designed them needs to take a class in proper stair spacing and tread width. And check out the ancient payphone on the wall when you walk into the main entrance. C'mon Lake County, its seriously time for an upgrade.
I was especially riveted by the part of this video where they uncover the fact that the library itself has three seperate levels contained all in one library. Most people didn't know that, or couldn't imagine it. The levels themselves were individually known as the "upper level", the "main level" and, you will never guess this one...wait..., the "lower level". And that was only part of what this video had to offer in terms of educational, as well as entertainment, value. Bravo!
