  • I just use a tiny amount of dish soap, this removes your skin oils very well and leaves a good clean surface. Make sure you rinse it very well before varnishing.

  • thanks for the tip about washing the painting with soap and water first before varnishing. I would never have thought to do that. I normally just use a clean hand to wipe dusty bits off the surface. What sort of soap would you use? Is Fairy Liquid ok?
