Jailbird Singers was a Swedish group who was founded in 1964 by Tony Granqvist, Åke "Korpen" Johnson and Tore "Masen" Eliasson who met while serving time in prison. Shortly after the release of their first album, "Tjyvballader och barnatro" (Outlaw ballads and childhood faith), Tony Granqvist, who was the band leader, got sick in cancer and died. After that the band died too.
The album was recorded in Långholmen penitentiary while the guys were serving their sentences there.
