Well, this is an exact replica of 14 bis. The First airplane constructed, by Santos Dumont, an Brazilian inventor. The North American´s usually try to say about the creation of airplane of this is an creation of Brother Wright. It´s a lie! These video can prove this. The replica really fly! Santos Dumont flyes in front of many people. The Wright Brothers no. Also, the Wright´s brothers plane are launched by an catapult. The 14 Bis of Santos Dumont flyes without any other method than motor. The plane is exactly like the planes are today.

  • Well since I was a kid I learnt the American way of life comes down to invent his own history as for example; The winners in Vietnan, invent his own sports as "FOOTBALL" played with "hands" and a "ball" that doesn't look like a ball... after all nobody can be better in this sport cause they are the only people who play it...

    p.s. sorry- just my opinnion

  • Wow, you really showed your ignorance there. I'm not American at all, I'm SLOVAK.

And although I'd love to see our aviation pioneers (like Bahýľ and Kvas) be the first to fly, I can live with the fact, that the Wright brothers were first. Besides, that doesn't diminish Santos-Dumont's accomplishments in any way. And I have nothing against him - I view all aviation pioneers as equals.

  • people say the wright brothers made the first air plane

  • I totally agree with you. Santos=Dumont is the Father of the Aviation, and he created the first airplane. I will just ask you to improve your English skills.

  • @MrAlepedroza WB patent was so harmful for technological advancement that just before World War I their patent was canceled because it was ridiculous and they need better planes.

  • @SMGJohn: Well, now it makes sense. I thought you were talking about the old fashioned late XlX Century steam engines. And again, my apologies if you think about me being was rude to you.

But again, what I was originally trying to prove wasnt that, read the shortest comment that I posted yesterday and you'll see.

  • @Verdelufe: ....then why did aviation andvanced so fast? You're saying that the WB's patent was like a kind of curse for aviation's technological advance, and however we still managed to perform feats like breaking the speed of sound and reaching the outer space just a few decades after....

That's why I say that the supposed damage that WB's patent just exists in the theorical world. Aviation still advanced amazingly fast.

    Just my humble opinion.

  • @MrAlepedroza Steam powered planes can also sustain a longer period in the air than petrol powered airplanes because Steam powered airplanes uses less fuel which means longer flight. You can also fix a steam turbine on an airplane which might result in faster speed then a jet turbine. The fact is back in those days they did not have flash boilers and their boilers where rather heavy which basically is the most important part of a steam engine but boilers are lighter and smaller now days

  • @Verdelufe: You said: ''WB were excellent Glider but no one could fly their gliders in 2003 replicas.''

You're contradicting yourself.....and man please be clear, I barely understood what you wanted to prove in that post. And remember, I'm not insulting you and have no intentions to began one of those endless ''debates'' which in reality are just a bunch of insults.

And with ''theorical world'', I meant that, if that patent was really that harmful for technological advance...(I'll continue)...

  • @MrAlepedroza Your seing only one side of the story. Well I understand, you actually have to know a little bit about Steam engines and petrol engines. The weight is no problem actually, a steam powered airplane actually flew in the 30s it was so silent they could hear the pilot from the plane.

No, combustion engines is major because the OIL industry is evil and wants it to stay like that because they earn more money. What most people fail to see is that Steam engines are better and polute less

  • @SMGJohn: What I was trying to prove is that WB's planes were completely functional and better than most (not all) airplanes in the world on their times. Again, read some about their eurepoean exhibitions and you'll realize that. Not only common people, but most aviation pioneers (such as Bleriot and Dumont) totally recognized them as truly giants.

  • @SMGJohn: Man. do you even know how to read? I already posted that I was aware that there were men that flew before the WB's. I dont deny that fact.

And steam powered aircraft being better that combustion ones?

Man, please, that's just illogical. Then why there are no more steam powered planes flying around? Just the weight factor made steam engines impractical for aviation. And there are many other factors....
