If you hear the poem as a wish for perfection at the moment of death, it is a very positive and memorable gift. (The phrases stay with you.)
Timothy Richardson dedicated the poem to the victums of 9/11 as a way of saying he hoped some, perhaps, left this world with a better view of the next.
