TURN UP YOUR VOLUME! Every day at sea at noon, Queen Mary 2 tests all 4 of her whistles; the first one you hear is quite faint - that's the one on the bow; the second one you hear is the one on the forward mast (behind the camera) - that one can be heard 10 miles away! The next one IS LOUD and is the original whistle (on the left) from the old Queen Mary; then you get a blast from the port-side replica whistle (on the right), before another blast from the original Queen Mary whistle.

  • ummm from what i hear its the higher pitched one thats the original one.

  • @N617A - The starboard whistle (on the left here) is the original one and I believe that is the first loud whistle you hear - it's repeated at the end. The official tech details say that they both sound the same Bass "A" note but they definitely sound different to me. Next time, I shall have to stand on the platform dead centre to be absolutely certain which one blasts my head off first!

  • @N617A The lowest pitched one is the original 1934 horn, on the starboard side of the funnel.
