Marillion - Market Square Heros
I found smog at the end of my rainbow
I found my thoughts shift slowly into phase
Declared the constitution of the walkway
I realise it's time to plan the day, the day
I'm a Market Square Hero gathering the storms to troop
Cause I'm a Market Square Hero speeding the beat of the streetpulse
Are you following me, are you following me?
Well suffer my pretty warriors and follow me
I got a golden handshake that nearly broke my arm
I left the ranks of shuffling graveyard people
I got rust upon my hands from the padlocked factory gates
Silent chimneys provide the silent steeples
Cause I'm a Market Square Hero gathering the storms to troop
Cause I'm a Market Square Hero speeding the beat of the streetpulse, the streetpulse
Are you following me? are you following me?
Well suffer my pretty children and follow me, follow me
Change, change, change!
Change, change, change!
I am your Antichrist show me allegiance
Are you following me
I am your Antichrist pledge to me defiance
Are you following me
Suffer my pretty warriors
Suffer my fallen child
Are you following me
The time has come to conquer and I'll provide your end
Suffer!
We March!
I give peace signs when I wage war in the disco
I'm the warrior in the ultra violet haze
Armed with antisocial insecurity
I plan the path of destiny from this maze
Cause I'm a Market Square Hero gathering the storms to troop
Cause I'm a Market Square Hero speeding the beat of the streetpulse, the streetpulse
Are you following me? are you following me?
Well suffer my fallen angels and follow me
I'm the Market Square Hero
I'm the Market Square Hero
We're Market Square Heroes
We're the Market Square Heroes
Are you following me?

@russ1961utube
So was I! I got very, very drunk that day on Theakstons. The line up was Marillion, Huang Chung (who were awful and got booed off) Lindisfarne, The Blues Band and Jethro Tull. Great gig.
I'd never heard of Marillion till then but I became a lifelong fan.

I was there too! with those two big Theakstons tankers at the back there! Excellent ..... and three years later saw them again with Tull supporting Marillion at Milton Keynes! How times change !

I saw Marillion at the Theakstons Music Festival near Wakefield in August 1982 supporting Jethro Tull. They were the first band on that day and got an encore - this was that song that got everybody going.

Footage recorded at Marquee Club at the end of Dec. '82 by Jim Duffy (who later did "Recital"). 3 gigs were recorded for a full lenght rockumentary, which was never officially released. Mick Pointer: "The studio was next door to the Marquee Club and I know the gig was recorded and there were the TV screens in the studio itself, so there was obviously a video onto the stage. Obviously something was put down onto video."
marillion . rocks . it

This so cool. Kim Kronk took me to see Marillian in Soho, So I was at the '81 concert. Fish had facepaint. She new I loved Genesis and said, 'you have to see this band'. We went, I've bought and learned everything since from Marillion. On that night, the Marquee had (dont know if it's still there 27 years later) a low ceiling, it was hot in there, it was a good show. A bobby had his helmet takin in a scuffle in the street after the show. Good fun all in all. Where the hell is Kim? More
