i dun understand him either, besides 3 minutes of the word weight. why is his fingers all collapsed?

Actually Vance wrote the books. Rabbath made some notes that were featured in a few editions. But they were some of the first books I learned from and, yes, they did change the way I played the bass dramaticlally. I still use the pivot almost all the time when I play.

I don't understand him :( (I do speak english and normally don't have a problem but I can't understand him, I only understand 'weight', 'I use my weight' and other odd words here and there but not his full speech)



The definition of good technique is natural and effortless playing. The purpose is to allow one to forget the mechanical aspects of playing and focus on ourselves in the music.

The master gave this same class at Baylor University in Waco TX on
on Oct 26. I, too, had some difficulty in hearing and understanding him, but I learned a lot on bowing.
When you consider I am 73, taking lessons for 2 yrs, and learning to read music, my praise is enthusiastic.
