My Dad bought one of these new in '83 - 626 Deluxe 5-door hatch, 2.0-litre 3-speed auto. It would cruise at 140km/h all day. Would love to have tried a 5-speed manual version.
For reasons known to Mazda and as shown here, the export sedan models generally had a different frontal clip treatment to the hatchback and coupe models - then a light facelift was done in 1985 and the sedans received their front. The styling was better looking than its Telstar twin however...

that mirror control is the same in the rx7 fc's, i have a 87 gxl
i almost got one of these but then i got the rx7, i still kinda want one of these to rip around in
