Thank God that the child abuse misconception was perpetuated. The "dialogue" about commodity culture (still prevalent in art today) grows old very quickly. How often can one bear thinking about the depressingly bland effects of capitalism on the collective consciousness. The child abuse concept is a much more intriguing one, as is the eventual shifting gears into making all his art about abuse. I'll always remember seeing one of his pieces in a museum and the dramatic effect it had on me.
