She married him because he's Humphrey fucking Bogart, the rich Hollywood superstar. She wouldn't give him a second look if he were a penniless private eye as in this movie.

One of those hot women, Lauren Bacall, married the guy. Charisma and confidence go a long way, and he had those in spades (no pun intended, Maltese Falcon fans).

I studied this movie in a college film class and the professor who taught the class told us that it was said that Dorothy Malone got so nervous when she got close to Bogart, that she kept shaking the paper cup as she held it up. Finally, after several blown takes, the prop master came up with the idea to put a small weight used to keep standing lights from tipping over in the bottom of her cup to keep it from shaking.
